The world is on the highway to progress and each and every thing in the world is developing at a very fast clip today. The world is undergoing tremendous development and advancing with each passing minute. The transportation industry has developed into quite a major industry and the best part about this industry is that this industry is quite productive and highly lucrative. The transportation industry has a lot of career avenues to offer to people and one of the most preferred is a truck driver. A lot of trucking companies recruit a large number of drivers regularly and these drivers are a reasonably paid lot.

However the transportation and predominantly the trucking industry is experiencing a serious crunch in terms of manpower and labor which is highly needed by this industry to keep on functioning efficiently. There is a severe shortage of truck drivers and trucking companies are in a quandary regarding this situation. A good and a well trained truck driver has been really hard to find in recent years and the fact that a truck driver needs at the very least two years of experience before he can drive efficiently is not helping anyone.

To what can this driver shortage be attributed to? One of the prime reasons that can be offered is the long hours that go along with this job. Truck drivers are away from their families for quite a substantial period and this forced separation does not bode well with most people and this thing acts as a major deterrent for most individuals from being truck drivers. The other reason which can be offered is that a lot of trucking companies do not pay the stipulated wages and truck drivers are often made to work for inhumanely long hours and this in turn induces mistakes and accidents on the parts of the drivers.
